RCT2 On Windows 7: Saving Games

Question: I am running RCT2 on Windows 7, and I am unable to save track designs in the game. I am also unable to see the track designs from your site in the game. How can I fix that?
Answer: Track designs are located in the Program Files folder. This folder on Windows 7 and Windows 8 is protected, and only administrators can edit it. Sometimes, you may also receive an "error trapper" alert during the game that will send you back to your desktop. There are two ways to get around this.
  • First, use the comaptability settings from my RollerCoaster Tycoon on Windows 7 post. Be sure that "Run this program as an Administrator" is selected.
  • Log on to your PC as the administrator. Open Windows Explorer. Open to the C: drive. Locate the Program Files (Or Program Files (x86) on some versions of Windows) folder. Find the folder Infogrames Interactive. Right-click the folder and select Properties. Select the Security tab. Select Users from the list. Select Edit. Select "Yes", and provide an administrator password if necessary. Select Users in the new window. See below the check boxes. Select the box in the Full Control row under the Allow column. Click Apply. Return to your standard user account, and open the game. This will allow the non-administrator user to run RollerCoaster RCT or RCT2 with no problems.
